How to be positive

You're probably here expecting me to be the most positive person you've ever encountered in your life, right? It couldn't be more wrong. I've struggled with negativity as long as I remember and this year has been one of the hardest for me so I know how hard it is to try and be positive. So even though this post is mostly to help you find the positive side of life, this is also a self reminder. Even though I'm a negative person, all I want is to be happy and the best way to start is to focus more on the good than on the bad. This is why I want this to be my first post, this is a big fight for me and I want to share some ways that help me and hope it will help at least some of you.


You've a choice
Being positive, even if it is hard, is a choice. If you want to be happy and a positive person you need to realize that you can't believe the world is against you. I'm one to blame, for a long time the only thing I knew was to point fingers, I thought people were only happy/unhappy because of the problems around them, but even though that's a major point, that's not entirely true. Life is going to happen how it is supposed to happen and sometimes you can't do much about it, however, you can choose how to feel about it.

Be positive towards others
For you to be positive you need to be your own example. Be kind, no matter what. There are so many bad people in the world and you don't want to be one of them. Sometimes all we need is a supportive word, a nice compliment, a friend who cheers us up, and not only that is good for them, it also helps you feel better, I promise. Tell someone how much you care, help someone in need, be there, even if you can't do much, just try and make them smile. Share your positivy with others and treat them how you'd like to be treated. Noone needs negative people in their life, so don't be one. Also, this leads us to another point.

Get rid of the negativity in your life
If you're trying to have an happy and positive life you need to get rid of the negativity, this not only means bad habits and behaviors but also negative people. I'm a really sensitive person and I seem to catch others feelings, if they're happy, I feel light, if they are negative, I feel like there's a big weight on my shoulders... so I really needed to cut those people out of my life because somehow I felt like they didn't want me to be happy. This isn't easy, actually I have been dealing with this for a long time and it is a long process, but negativity actracts negativity and you need to realize that it prevents you from being positive.

The law of attraction
You attract what you think. The universe can and will be your friend if you believe in it. Start by writing all the things you want, for example, you want that dream job, write how you want it to work out, how it will happen, how it is going to make you feel. Believing that something good will happen, makes it easy to actually happen, If you sit around thinking to yourself nothing good is ever going to happen to you, it won't. Be the best version of yourself you can be, believe in yourself and that things will work out and you'll see that it will be easier for it to happen. The universe is beside you but he can only help you if you want to be helped.

Be good to yourself
This is probably a cliché thing to say but believe me when I say that it makes a huge difference in how you see things around you. Don't put yourself down, you're meant for something and whatever it is, it's waiting for you. Wake up and tell yourself how amazing you're and how you can achieve whatever you want. Everyone makes mistakes and the only thing you can do about that is learn and grow from that, nothing good will come from telling yourself you're ugly or unworthy. Obviously we're not perfect and there will be always things we don't like about ourselves, but you need to focus on the good things about you (and realize that there are probably more than you think). In the end, you have to deal with yourself every single day and there isn't a better way to be happy than to actually like ourselves.
It's not going to be easy but you need to remind yourself that if you want to have a more positive life, you need to do something about it. It won't happen overnight but one day you'll look behind and be like "damn I'm so much happier now". No matter how hard it is, don't ever give up. Give your best to be positive and positive things will find you. Be happy, you only have one life.
